The attempt to ride the far-right agenda of racist movements which helped Trump become president can be blocked by much wider and stronger unity, creating coalitions which include all progressive forces.
There is no easy solution to this trend of white supremacist and misogynist violence, but it doesn’t help to make bewildered claims that Canadians are somehow better than Americans.
It’s time to get over the smug attitude that Canada is “better than the U.S.”, and accept that racism must be challenged relentlessly, not papered over.
